"All The Small Things" by Blink-182 - KMKanDrum Cover

When punk began turning poppy in the late 90s, there were only two bands you could list at the very top when it comes to punk bands that broke through the barrier of backyard parties and clubs into arenas and stadiums: Green Day and Blink-182.

As time has passed, Green Day has tried everything under the sun, from concept albums to Broadway shows and everything in between. Some might label them as sellouts. I'm sure many of their original fans have. Whereas, Blink has stayed pretty much the same throughout their history.

It's fascinating to contrast the two. I'm not a big fan of either band, to be honest. But I did really like "Dookie" and the first 3-4 albums by Blink. So if you asked me who I would put at the top of the Pop-Punk list, it would be Blink-182...mainly because I cannot stand Billie Joe Armstrong for a myriad of reasons, and I think Blink writes better songs, and Travis Barker is a lot better IMO than Tre Cool.

And of all the songs I would pick to be sort of the anthem of pop-punk, it would be "All the Small Things." It has everything every punk band ever wanted in a song, even the ones that say they never wanted to go commercial. My old punk band tried writing poppy songs just like this one. We had a couple decent ones, but nothing compared to this.

Whether it came out at the perfect time or it's just a plain old good song (I think a little of both), "All the Small Things" is the quintessential song of the entire pop-punk genre.

Hope you enjoy my drum cover of it!
