It was very apparent to me at an early age that Sting always sought to hire the best of the best when it comes to musicians. Heck, for his album, "Soul Cages" he was able to convince Branford Marsalis to play saxophone even though his older brother Winton absolutely forbid it because they were a jazz family, not a rock and roll family. Winton even disowned Branford for a while.
In any case, I learned quickly to trust Sting when it came to discovering drummers. This album featured Omar Hakim and being a kid just learning who was who, I had never heard of Omar before this album. But as soon as I heard "Fortress Around Your Heart," I knew he was a special talent that I needed to emulate.
So, here is my cover of the aforementioned. I hope you enjoy it!
