When I first heard this song, I had just moved back from Houston, TX, and was getting over a massive breakup. I had a new job and buried my head in my work. Music was the only thing pushing me through. And although the lyrics are a little off from my personal situation, the feel of the song mirrored my feelings inside.
I was sullen and alone and this song spoke to me. I loved everything about it. The drums were fat and solid and raw. The vocal melodies were somber and soft. So when this song popped up in my shuffle, it whisked me away instantly back to 2006, driving in a stripped-down, green, 90s Honda Civic with no AC and broken window handles. I just had to cover it. I hope you enjoy:
