Welcome to Savage Garden Week! I'm covering songs from my favorite pop band, and Aussie greats, Savage Garden. For the whole week, I'll be posting a new Savage Garden cover each day.
Yes, that's right! Savage Garden Week Day 2 features "The Lover After Me" for whom the great, Steve Smith (Journey and others), recorded drums! I tried very hard to keep the drums close to the original because Smith's groove is so great on this song! All the ghost notes add so much to the overall feel of the song.
Plus, singing anything Savage Garden is super hard and intricate, so just being able to sort of keep up and within the same ballpark as Darren Hayes is such a huge challenge. There's no way, as a "singer," I could add or make better those vocal lines.
