I think over the years, I have confused Dashboard Confessional with other bands that I didn't care for much. These kinds of vaguely poetic and trendy band names all start sounding the same after a while, and so in my head, their music must also sound the same.
But this is not the case with these guys. When my pop-punk band wanted to cover "Vindicated," I kind of sighed inside. But I went home and listened to it, and wow, I was not expecting this at all. What a cool song, right up my alley as far as having a driving, yet melancholic feel to it. There's that dichotomy of sounding happy and sad at the same time, which I love.
I'm going to have to listen to more of their stuff. Plus, they were originally signed to Vagrant, who also represented one of my favorite bands, Moneen, as well as a host of other great bands. Please enjoy this one!
